Ouchi-juku village is where the Edo period (1603-1868) still remains. It is currently located in Shimogo-machi, Minami Aizu-gun, Fukushima. Ouchi-juku, comprised of more than 30 thatched roof houses located along the two sides of the road, is currently designated as an important traditional architectural preservation area of the country.

With its location next to a mountain range covered with trees, in the seasons of the year, Ouchi-juku village always “wears” on its charming beauty. In the summer you will be able to see the green natural scenery, while in the autumn you will make the town stand out with colorful trees as the background. In winter, Ouchi-juku is covered in white by millions of snowflakes, creating a breathtakingly peaceful and beautiful scene.

Ouchi-juku food court has many delicious dishes that make it difficult for visitors to refuse such as konnyaku steamed cake with soybean sauce skewers, miso fried steamed cake, rice cake, kiritanpo rice, fried chicken tail mushroom with miso sauce … Especially, noodles The famous “Negi Soba” uses a piece of onion to eat in place of chopsticks. This is something that anyone who comes to Ouchi-juku village should try.

How to get there: To visit Ouchi-juku village, the most convenient way is to take the JR Aizu Line to Yunokami Onssen Station, then go by car for about 10 minutes. If traveling from Tokyo, you will use the Hotoku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kooriyama, then change to a local train to get to this area. The total train ride time takes about 4 hours.
